Discovering Pickleball: A Fast-Growing Global Sport

In recent years, a sport called Pickleball has been rapidly gaining popularity around the world. Not only is it the fastest-growing sport in the United States, but it's also starting to make waves across Asia. Whether you're a sports enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and easy activity, pickleball is definitely worth a try!

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It’s easy to learn and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The game can be played as singles or doubles, using paddles and a perforated plastic ball on a court similar in size to a badminton court.

Basic Rules and Playstyle

One of the most unique aspects of pickleball is the non-volley zone, also known as the kitchen. Players are not allowed to volley (hit the ball in the air) while standing in this zone,

This special rule reduces the number of aggressive smashes and keeps rallies going longer. Outside of this zone, players can either volley or wait for the ball to bounce before hitting it.

How to Serve

At the start of a rally, the server must stand behind the baseline and hit the ball diagonally across into the opponent’s service box, clearing the kitchen (non-volley zone) line for the serve to be valid.

Here are a few important serving rules:

So remember — tennis-style overhead serves are not allowed in pickleball! ><
